May 28th 2015- Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (41-6-1, 19) Vs Khunsuk Chaiyonggym* (?-?) When it comes to Thai's that we love watching Suriyan Sor Rungvisai is one of the fighters near the very top. Recently he was in action again, for what is believed to have been his 49th professional bout. *We believe the fighter facing Suriyan was Khunsuk Chaiyonggym though it may well be someone very different. If it was Khunsuk then we're at a loss as to his record. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th)

May 28th 2015- Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (33-4-1, 30) Vs Jose Salgado (34-2-2, 27) Watching boxing from Thailand can be really frustrating. There is more televised mismatches in the country than almost anywhere, in fact many TV broadcasts are just mismatch after mismatch. Whilst it can be frustrating to follow it can also be enthralling with a number of brilliant bouts fought in the country every year and some genuinely amazing fighters. One bout that look wonderful on paper was a WBC Super Flyweight eliminator between local favourite Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Mexican visitor Jose Salgado. Both men had fought at the world level and both were hunting a win here to get themselves a bout with WBC champion Carlos Cuadras. On paper this was one of the best bouts we've seen in a very long time. (Video courtesy to tko.in.th) May 9th 2015- Gwangmyeong Girl's Highschool, Seoul, South Korea Kyoo Hwan Hwang (0-0) Vs Jung Ho Jang (1-0-1, 1) There is something about the Korean boxing scene that really interests us. We know it's not the strongest or the most exciting but something draws us to the action in Korea and makes us enjoy the fighters. One recent Korean bout saw the 18 year old Kyoo Hwan Hwang battle against the 34 year old Jung Ho Jang. May 9th 2015- Gwangmyeong Girl's Highschool, Seoul, South Korea Eun Chang Lee (8-4, 4) Vs John Ford (6-6-1, 5) We are all too aware that boxing has too many titles. One recent bout in Korea saw the WBA Asia Middleweight title being up for grabs as Korean Eun Chang Lee battle against Thailand's John Ford. Whilst silly titles are one thing another thing is clear mismatches. Lee, whilst no world beater, had began his career at Super Middleweight, and had notably fought a 6 round loss against Olympic medal winner Esquiva Falcao, whilst Ford was a blown up Light Welterweight who had fought at 140lbs just 2 months before this bout. May 9th 2015- Gwangmyeong Girl's Highschool, Seoul, South Korea Nam Joon Lee (7-4-3, 3) Vs Rachamongkol Sor Pleonchit (14-9, 6) Fights in South Korea are often confusing at the best of times. This particular bout between Nam Joon Lee and Rachamongkol Sor Pleonchit was apparently for a PABA "junior" title at Featherweight. We've never come across any other "PABA junior" titles nor can we understand how a 31 year old can face a 32 year old for a "junior" title. May 23rd 2015- Centro de Espectáculos del Recinto Ferial, Metepec, México, Mexico Edward Mansito (13-1-2, 7) Vs Rey Vargas (23-0, 22) This past Saturday saw Filipino fighter Edward Mansito seek his biggest win and take on the very highly ranked Rey Vargas, a serious puncher form Mexico who is being tipped as a possible world champion. It was always going to be a big ask for Mansito but it's fair to say he didn't travel to just roll over and lose. May 22nd 2015- Fantasy Springs Casino, Indio, California, USA Taishan Dong (4-0, 2) Vs Lance Gauch (5-8-2, 3) Earlier this month we were left unimpressed with Chinese giant Taishan Dong who seemed to struggle with Jamal Woods, he continued his winning streak though showed some real issue that needed sorting out. Less than 2 weeks later Dong was back in the ring as he took on Lance Gauch, a man who looked like he was picked from the local fast food restaurant. May 22nd 2015- Meanburi Sport, Bangkok, Thailand Yuaza Meanburisport (0-0) Vs Daoden Lookklongbangklang (0-0) A recent all debutant bout in Thailand saw Yuaza Meanburisport battle against Daoden Lookklongbangklang. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) May 22nd 2015- Meanburi Sport, Bangkok, Thailand Pongsaklek Sithdabnij (0-3) Vs Rachadam Por Kobkua (0-0) The name "Pongsaklek" is legendary due to the brilliant Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. Now however there is another fighter fighting under the moniker Pongsaklek Sithdabnij. He's nowhere near as good as his name sake though he was in action this past Friday when he took on Rachadam Por Kobkua in a relatively interesting, though low level, match up. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) May 22nd 2015- Meanburi Sport, Bangkok, Thailand Jirapan Nakornluang (10-0, 7) vs Rofit Adiya (0-0) Thailand's Jirapan Nakornluang has impressed us at times in the past. Yesterday we saw him fight in his first title fight as he took on Rofit Adiya in a bout for the WBC Youth Silver featherweight title. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) |
