March 23rd 2015-Thailand Taiwo Ali (15-3, 10) vs Yodpetch Manopgym (?-?) The Thai boxing scene is full of domestic fighters who have run up wins against foreign opponents. Every so often however a foreign fighter can make their career in Thailand. One such example is Nigerian fighter Taiwo Ali who has fought all his professional bouts in the Land of Smiles, including a recent bout with Yodpetch Manopgym. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) March 27th 2015-Thailand Chanachai CP Freshmart (2-0, 1) Vs ??? Young Thai Chanachai CP Freshmart caught our eye in February with an exciting and aggressive performance against Wilber Andogan. Since then we've been waiting to see more of him. We got that chance this past Friday when Chanachai faced a very poor opponent and was scarcely forced to break a sweat. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) March 27th 2015- Thailand Kongfah CP Freshmart (12-0, 7) Vs ??? Thailand's promising Kognfah CP Freshmart caught our eye last year when his impressive uppercuts gave us one of the 2015 KO's of the year. Since then the baby faced Thai has remained active though mostly against dire foes. The most recent of those bouts taking on an unknown foe in a relatively enjoyable, though one sided contest. (Video courtesy of TKO.in.th) March 27th 2015-Thailand Petch Sor Chitpattana (29-0, 19) Vs Jestoni Autida (7-2, 3) Unbeaten Thai Petch Sor Chitpattana has a pretty record on paper though is lacking a win of note as he has continued to battle novices and limited opposition whilst working his way, slowly, up the world rankings. In his most recent bout Petch fought Filipino visitor Jestoni Autida in another bout that, on paper, proved nothing of the well regarded Thai. (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) March 27th 2015-Thailand Oleydong Sithsamerchai (55-1-1, 21) Vs Rasmanudin (19-8-3, 10) One thing about Thailand that we like is that the country keeps it's fighters busy and there are few fighters who have been as busy as Oleydong Sithsamerchai, the former WBC Minimumweight champion. This past Friday Oleydong fought for the 58th time in his career as he fought Indonesian visitor Rasmanudin, a formerly world ranked fighter himself. [Note-Oleydong now fights as Oleydong CP Freshmart] (Video courtesy of tko.in.th) March 15th 2015- Kyuden Gym, Fukuoka, Fukuoka, Japan Hideo Sakamoto (15-1-2, 5) Vs Ryoichi Tamura (3-1-1, 1) Last year we saw Hideo Sakamoto come to our attention with an upset win against the then world ranked Hiroki Shiino. In his first bout following that one Sakamoto took on the talented but inexperienced Ryoichi Tamura, who was best known for stopping Kenji Kubo late last year. On paper this looked like a mismatch though for fans who had follow the fighters in question it looked very good match making. That review saw him describe Jason Canoy Vs Giovanni Escaner as the Filipino fight of the year and we've been very lucky to stumble on that fight which really was brilliant from start to end with both men unloading bombs on each other in a very memorable contest between two young fighters, each looking to make a name for themselves. For those interested in reading JM's article it can be read here. (Video courtesy of jason manigos) January 31st 2015-Mandaluyong Gym, Mandaluyong Sports Center, Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines Richard Claveras (11-0-2, 11) Vs Demsi Manufoe (9-3, 6) Earlier this week it was announced that Filipino puncher Richard Claveras would be getting a very unexpected world title shout against Pedro Guevara. Unfortunately footage of Claveras is scarce with only this one, short, clip being available of him at the time of that announcement. This clip is from his fight with collapsible Indonesian Demsi Manufoe, who had been stopped in both of his bouts against recognisable opposition.. (Video courtesy of Neil Mendoza) March 8th 2015-Hoengseong Gymnasium, Hoengseong, South Korea Joo Young Kwon (2-0) Vs Keisuke Kanazawa (2-4, 1) Recent in Korea fans had a show that featured several Korea Vs Japan bouts. Possibly the most exciting of those saw Joo Young Kwon battle against Keisuke Kanazawa in an action packed 4-rounder that started very hot and continued in the same vein through out. We'll be honest it wasn't the highest skilled bout out there but it was an incredibly fun to watch slugfest that saw both men having their moments. |
