There wasn't a lot of action in world boxing this past weekend and in fact their was only a sole world title fight, despite how many titles we have in this sport. That fight came in Mexico as Japanese fighter Atsushi Kakutani (13-4-1, 6) challenged Mexican Adrian Hernandez (28-2-1, 17) for the WBC Light Flyweight title.
Unfortunately after a notable start, which included sending Hernandez down in the opening round, Kakutani was himself stopped by the champion in the 4th round as Hernandez proved to be too tough, powerful and strong.
The first of those comes form Australia as Thailand's Pathomphol Kokietgym (4-8, 2) suffered an opening round defeat at the hands of Josh King (15-3, 7). Hopefully it won't be long until we manage to get the rest of the results from the day.
The second is from South Africa where Filipino Benezer Alolod (12-5-4, 2) was stopped by former world champion Nkosinathi Joyi (24-2-0-1, 17). As a result of this loss Alodid loses his WBC International Light Flyweight title.
Kakutani wasn't the only Japanese fighter in action in fact their was a full 8 bout card at the Kanakubo Sogo Gym in Japan.
The Japanese card with 4 bouts scheduled for 4 rounds. The first of these of those saw debutants in action as Kenta Yamada (1-0, 1) had a debut to remember taking out Yuki Saikawa (0-1) in 116 seconds. This was follwed by a second stoppage as Hitoshi Ando (4-5-1, 3) took out Satoshi Kawami (4-9, 2) with a little over 2 minutes of the bout left.
In the remainder of the 4 round bouts Yusuke Matsuda (1-1) out pointed Kazuyoshi Toguri (1-5) and Kenichi Tokano (2-4, 1) out pointed Ayame Osada (2-7).
In 6 round action Satoru Uchida (4-10-3, 2) quickly blasted out debuting Thai Khunhan Wor Por Srisaket (0-1) in just 2 rounds whilst Hideyuki Watanabe (6-5-2, 5) struggled over the line against Tatsuya Kaneko (6-9-1).
The sole 8 round bout on the show saw the experienced but limited Kosuke Iwashita (14-15-2, 8) stopping the winless Thai Fasanghan Or Benjamad (0-5) before the less than stellar main event which was a 7th round KO victory for Tosho Makoto Aoki (15-12-2, 12) over the debuting Lattasit Sorsuda (0-1).
In Indonesia there was a small 3 fight show which saw Hero Tito (7-2, 3) out point veteran Eddy Comaro (26-17-5, 10) over 8 rounds and victories for both Toncer Manufoe (6-2, 4) and Demsy Manufoe (2-0, 2). Toncer's victory came via a 6 round decision over the debuting S. Sowono (0-1) whilst Demsy stopped R. Rizaldy (0-1) in the fifth round.
We try and give you the latest results on all the fights from Asia.
