In the most notable bout with an Asian interest today WBA Middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (27-0, 24) successfully defended his belt, and scored his 14th straight stoppage victory. Coming up against challenger Matthew Macklin (29-5, 20) it was expected that Golovkin would be tested before going on to score a victory. In an IBF female Bantamweight world title fight Kimika Miyoshi (8-6-1, 3) was widely out pointed by champion Yazmin Rivas (28-7, 9). Miyoshi, who was game, was completely out by the talented Rivas who took all 3 cards by a scoreof 100-90.
On the same card in the Adolfo Lopez Sport Center in Apatzingan, Michoacan there was a nasty knockout loss for Toyoto Shiraishi (23-8-1, 11). Challenging for the NABF Super Flyweight title Shiraishi was badly knocked out by the hard hitting Jose Salgado (32-2-1, 27). This was Shiraishi 3rd loss in 5 bouts and his second by T/KO.
