Whether you like him or not Zou Shiming (4-0, 1) is the spearhead of the current Chinese boxing movement and, for all intents and purposes, he is the face of boxing in China. Despite his status in regards to Chinese boxing many are unsold on his skills and his potential and this weekend's fight against former world title challenger Luis De La Rosa (23-3-1, 13) looks to be a huge step up for the double Olympic champion who has been much maligned by the western boxing world.
Despite the damnation that many give Shiming he has been priced ridiculously for his bout with De La Rosa, in fact almost all the bookies have got Shiming at 1/100 with some even going as far as to price him at 1/150. For a man taking a really big step up in class they are frighteningly unbackable odds, especially in boxing.
With Shiming priced so low it is surprising that De La Rosa is "only" as high as 20/1 with many carrying him at either 16/1 or 18/1.
For those who want to find some value they may find it in the "method of victory" market that is being offered by Bet365. This market offers 8/15 on Shiming scoring a decision over De La Rosa and 11/8 for Shiming to stop De La Rosa.
If you're suspect the under-dog will shock the boxing world De La Rosa by decision is available at 50/1 whilst De La Rosa by stoppage is 25/1.
The draw is 33/1.
As with many "one sided" bouts we would suggest that if you fancy the upset the is great opportunity to get better odds on betfair by laying Shiming.
We'll admit that we think this is a serious test for Shiming and if De La Rosa is at his best he has got the ability to beat Shiming. The question however will be can he her perform on this stage and can he give a full account of himself? If De La Rosa can perform to 100% then Shiming could be in serious trouble.
(Note-We do not advocate gambling and are using the odds for illustrative purposes of how the bookies have this fight. Gambling can be an addictive and expensive habit.)
