Earlier today we received news that Chinese Heavyweight Zhang Junglong (12-0, 12)* [张君龙] would be returning to the ring in April.
The details of the bout, at the moment, are scarce though we have been told that Junglong, AKA "The Dragon King", will be in action in Xishuangbanna, Yunan, in what will be his debut in the South Chinese region and it will take place on April 11th.
The former amateur, who narrowly missed out on a place at the 2004 Olympics in Atehns, is said to be headlining the show in question though at the moment he hasn't had his opponent named for the bout.
Junglong took part in the press conference for the bout and Chinese sources have reported that there will be some regional titles on the line, including one from the WBA with Junlong likely trying to get himself a world ranking, via the regional titles. Of course he is a long way from a world title, and given that he's 36 the hopes of getting a big fight are slim. However given that he does have China behind him there is a chance that someone may view him as a viable contender in the near future, especially given his links with mentor Evander Holyfield.
*Junlong's record is disputed with at least 3 reported figures, though all of them state he has a 100% KO record.
