OPBF Super Middleweight champion Yuzo Kiyota (26-4-1, 24) has recently had his opponent named for his upcoming title defense. The hard hitting Japanese fighter, one of the heaviest handed fighters in Asia, will be defending his belt against little known Fijian fighter Abhay Chand (16-13-4, 10).
Chand was a very surprising choice of opponent and, at the time of the announcement, wasn't actually ranked by the OPBF. In fact there was a really good reason that the 35 year was unranked given that he's not won a fight since 2011, when he stopped the 1-3-1 Saliasa Moko in 8 rounds. What we have seen from him is 3 losses in his last 4 bouts, including an opening round blow out defeat to Leti Leti in June of this year.
Chand is 0-6 out side of Fiji and we'd be shocked if that didn't become 0-7 when he gets into the ring at the Korakuen Hall with Kiyota.
As well as the announcement of the opponent we've also seen the official release of the poster which looks pretty neat with Kiyota taking center stage. It's not the most original poster that we've seen but we like it all the same with all the key details needed on it.
