Tomorrow is genuinely an exciting day for boxing fans around the globe. For Japanese fans it's fair to say they are in for a treat at the Korakuen Hall courtesy of a thrilling triple header. Although the show in question features 2 title bouts the main event is actually a non-title bout that promises nothing short of thrilling non-stop action between two truly tough guys.
The bout in question is the third meeting between Nihito Arakawa (25-4-1, 16), a former Japanese Lightweight champion, and Yoshitaka Kato (28-5-1, 9), the current Japanese Lightweight champion. Going into this thrilling contest the men are 1-1 with each holding a razor thin majority decision over the other, this one is to settle the score.
Earlier today both men weighed in for the catchweight bout set at a limit of 62KG (a little over 136lbs). On the scales Kato was bang on the contracted limited weighing in at 62KG's whilst Arakawa came in under the limit by 200g (around 1/2lb).
Of the two men it's fair to say Arakawa is the better known fighter, after all his bout with Omar Figueroa last year was one of the 2013 FOTY contenders and a total war, though Kato is his equal in many ways and we suspect this is going to be razor thin, one way or another.
