Yesterday fans in Tokyo had the chance to see two title fights at the Korakuen Hall. As part of the under-card there was a number of notable bouts.
One of those saw former Japanese Super Flyweight champion Yohei Tobe (9-2-1, 5) return to the ring for the first time in more than a year. Tobe, who hadn't fought since he lost the Japanese title to Sho Ishida, took on experienced Filipino Ryan Bito (22-16-3, 8) and claimed a clear decision win.
The bout was the second between Tobe and Bito and saw Tobe repeating the result of the first bout, winning a very clear cut decision. Despite that Bito did put up a real fight and the bout did serve as a good warm up ahead of the two main bouts.
Another of the under-card bouts saw Welterweight prospect Shuichiro Yoshino (1-0, 1) score a 3rd round TKO win over Thai visitor Petchjah Sithphasean (0-5), who was stopped for the 4th time. The promising Yoshino finished off Petchjah with a spiteful body shot and although he didn't look punch perfect there is real excitement about Yoshino following an excellent amateur career.
