The bout in question will see charismatic Korean fighter Ye Joon Kim (10-1-2, 5) battle against Filipino foe Vergil Puton (14-4, 7) in what looks like a really interesting contest between two talented youngsters who may not have perfect records but are both good prospects for the future.
For those who don't follow the messy Korean seen Kim is seen as the poster boy of the KBF, one of two competing sanctioning outfits in Korea. He is the current WBC Youth Super Bantamweight champion and is one of the most interesting characters to come from Korean boxing in a long time. He's blessed with power, speed and skill and has often been able to mix up his offense and defense. Technically he may be limited and his punch selection is sometimes questionable but his willingness to commit to uppercuts does make him very interesting to watch, as shown in his recent win over Yoshiyuki Takabayashi.
Aged 22 Kim has a lot of growing up to do, both in and out of the ring though we suspect with Buffalo Promotions behind him that maturing will should happen under the watchful eye of several former fighters who will continue to push him as the face of both Buffalo and the KBF.
Puton is a tough 25 year old Filipino fighters dubbed "Strong Man" who suffered 3 losses in his first 7 bouts before running off an 11 fight winning streak. Although that streak came to an end in October, courtesy of a split decision loss to the unbeaten and talented JR Magboo we certainly wouldn't write off Puton's potential as a competitor in OPBF level bouts.
Although not unbeaten Puton is a genuine test at this level for most fighters and should prove to be the toughest opponent so far for Kim who maybe viewing 2015 as his break out year, and this would be the perfect way to start the year.
As for the date of the bout it is, as stated in the letter, February 28th in Uslan, South Korea. At the moment no undercard has been mentioned on the KBF's website though we suspect the under-card will be announced in the new year.
