Earlier this year we saw Shinsuke Yamanaka (27-1-2, 19) [山中慎介] lose the WBC Bantamweight as suffered a TKO loss to controversial Mexican fighter Luis Nery (25-0, 19), who failed a drugs test. Due to the drug test failure of Nery the WBC ordered a rematch, though failed to really punish the unbeaten champion leading to some viewing their "Clean Boxing Program" with some new found cynicism and doubt.
It now appears that the negotiations for the rematch are about done, and that both men are now aware of when and where the bout will be taking place.
Various reports are saying the teams have agreed for the bout to take place in Japan, like the first bout did, in early March 2018. The bout will also see Nery under-go a more watchful WBC who will be keeping an eye on his diet and seeing whether or not his excuse for his failed drug's test holds up.
For Nery the bout will be his first defense of the title, though he has fought in a none-title bout against Filipino fighter Arthur Villanueva whilst the fight will see Yamanaka fight for the first time since losing to Nery back in August.
Whilst the bouyt is now set for the first week of March there isn't yet an announced date for the bout. That's likely to be announced shortly along with the specific venue of the bout.
