Yesterday we reported that a source had informed us that Hiroto Kyoguchi (5-0, 5) [京口 紘人] would be facing Filipino veteran Armando dela Cruz (25-14-3, 11) in a bout for the OPBF Minimumweight title on February.
That story came as a surprise given that Ryuya Yamanaka (13-2, 3) [山中 竜也] was officially the champion, however that changed today when Yamanaka officially vacated the title with his team at the Shinsei gym stating that they wanted to prepare Yamanaka for a world title bout.
The 21 year old, who won the title last year when he defeated Merlito Sabillo, stated that his intention was to be fully prepared for a world title bout, and it seems likely that the Shinsei gym will do their best to secure the youngster a world title bout before the end of the year, with some speculation being that Yamanaka's team have already secured him a title shot for his next contest.
With Yamanaka vacating it seems likely we will see the Kyoguchi Vs Dela Cruz bout being officially announced in the next 24-48 hours!
