Earlier today it was revealed that WBA Super Flyweight champion Kohei Kono (32-8-1, 13) [河野 公平] had been ordered to negotiate with interim champion Luis Concepcion (34-4, 24), with the men being given a 30 day free negotiating period.
The bout will see WBA "regular" and "interim" titles being unified and fans being given an absolute treat as the two fighters have, at least on paper, styles that should gel perfectly.
For Kono the bout will be his second mandatory defense, and his 4th defense of the title, whilst Concepcion will be seeking to claim his first full "world" title, after having reigned as the interim champion at both Flyweight and Super Flyweight.
At the moment there is no word on when the bout will be, or where, but it was revealed that Kono is going to be back in the ring in August alongside stablemate, and current WBA Light Flyweight champion, Ryoichi Taguchi (24-2-1, 11) [田口良一]. At the moment it's unclear who Taguchi will face, but Ryo Miyazaki (24-1-3, 15) [宮崎 亮] has been linked to a bout with Taguchi in recent weeks,
