One of those "foregone announcements" was formally made today.
That announcement is that Watanabe would be holding a New Year's Eve show, set to be televised on TV Tokyo, and would feature two of their world champions.
Those champions in action would be New Year's Eve regular star Takashi Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19), who will be defending his WBA Super Featherweight super title, and the popular Ryoichi Taguchi (22-2-1, 9), who will be defending his WBA Light Flyweight title for the second time.
For Uchiyama this will be his 11th world title defense, as he moves towards the long standing Japanese record of 13 defenses by the legendary Yoko Gushiken. Notably it will also be his 5th to come on a New Year's Eve show as he continues to remain popular with both fans and TV Tokyo.
For Taguchi the bout will celebrate his reign which began last New Year's Eve, which saw him claim the title with a decision win over Alberto Rossel.
At the moment neither man has had their opponent publicly announced however Watanabe have hinted that they will be facing foes from Latin America.
