Earlier today the Watanabe world champion trio of Kohei Kono (30-8-1, 13), Takashi Uchiyama (22-0-1, 18) and Ryoichi Taguchi (21-2-1, 8) went and visited Tadayoshi Matsubara, the mayor of Ota, Tokyo.
The meeting, the second involving the world champions and a mayor, was again a chance for the fighters to show off their belts whilst also making it known that they are thankful for the local support offered by both the fans and the local politicians.
Whilst Uchiyama has made the Ota- City hall his boxing home recently it's fair to say that things are bit closer to actual home for Taguchi who is involved in the local community in Ota and it's something we expect he'll continue to further no he's a world champion and a sign of what people from the area can do.
Although the meeting won't help any of the men win future bouts it is great to see them all getting about and further their popularity in Tokyo as they all look to return to the ring in May.
