Earlier today we were informed that Diamond boxing Promotions have announced that they have plans to get WBC Minimumweight champion Wanheng Menayothin (36-0, 12) back in the ring in early 2015 to defend his world title.
At the moment there have been no concrete announcements on when or who Wanheng will be defending his title against but we have been told that there are aims to have him defending the belt in the first quarter of the year with Kosei Tanaka's (4-0, 2) name being linked to the fight.
Although the details are sketchy, to say the least, it does seem that we will get some clarity on the bout in January with Diamond saying they would formally announce the bout next month. That, to us anyway, seems like they are well into negotiations with somebody and that the fight is almost a done deal. What we are aware of however is that Channel 7 will have to agree to air the bout and the WBC will have to sanction it and the WBC would likely have the winner facing a mandatory towards the end of this year or early next year.
