On Friday morning we saw distressing scenes as Thai youngster Chanachai CP Freshmart (5-1, 2) [ชนะชัย ซีพีเฟรชมาร์ท] collapsed in the ring between rounds 8 and 9 of his bout with Dexter Alimento (10-0, 7). After collapsing Chanachai was taken to hospital in what looked to be a very serious condition.
Earlier today Thai sources reported an update on Chanachai's condition informing us that the youngster had indeed suffered a bleed on the brain, one they described as a "little" bleed, and was being kept in an intensive care unit (ICU) as doctors continued to do tests whilst working around the clock to try and help the fallen youngster. As well as being in the ICU there are brain specialists looking over him and analysing the tests results.
From what we understand Alimento was also taken to hospital, as a precaution, though there has been no news revealed in regards to him having any serious injury.
We hope to bring you more on this story as it develops and, of course, wish Chanachai a speedy recovery.
Alimento wasn't taken to hospital after the fight. We took information from the Thai media and have since been corrected by Alimento's manager Rey Marban
