Now it seems that that bout is almost a done deal with Corrales promoter suggesting the deal is "90%" complete, and it is likely to be confirmed in the coming days.
The bout has been made after WBA "regular" champion Javier Fortuna (29-0-1-1,21) priced himself out of a bout with Uchiyama, with reports suggesting that Fortuna's team asked for $350,000 to travel to Japan. The sum is around 6 times more than he was paid for his last fight, a Carlos Ivan Velasquez last September. Offers for the bout to be staged in the US, which was something Uchiyama's team had been hoping, weren't as welcoming as Watanabe, Uchiyama's promoter, had hoped.
At there moment there is pretty much no news in regards to the rest of the card, though it is known that Ryoichi Taguchi (23-2-1, 10) [田口良一], a stablemate of Uchiyama's, will be defending his title on April 27th, at the Ota City Gymnasium and it's also been confirmed that WBA Super Flyweight champion Kohei Kono (31-8-1, 13) [河野 公平] will be on the card. Those two men however haven't had much released on their opponents, with the only stories at the being rumours. The most exciting of which would see Kono defending his belt against "interim" champion Luis Concepcion (34-4, 24).
Takashi Uchiyama may defend title on April 27th! Triple Header possible!
