Tomorrow fight fans in Tokyo get a world title triple header, with the main bout from the show being a WBA Super Featherweight "super" title bout. That bout will see long reigning champion Takashi Uchiyama's (24-0-1, 20) [内山 高志] return to the ring to face off against the once beaten "interim” champion Jezreel Corrales (19-1-0-1, 7).
At the weigh in this morning Uchiyama made weight at his first attempt, weighing in at weighing in at 129.6lbs, well under the divisional limit. For Corrales however things weren't so easy.
Firstly the challenger weighed in at 130.73lbs, well over the limit. He was then given 2 hours to lose the extra weight. On his return to the scales he was still over-weight before climbing to the scales for a thirds time, removing a mask he was wearing along with his underpants, finally making weight.
Notably we had been informed that Corrales as well over-weight when he arrived in Japan last weekend, and we do need to wonder if today's issues with the scales was proof of that.
Notably both fighters were confident, though it's clear that the issues with the scales will have been an unwanted issue for Corrales who was already the under-dog for the bout.
Uchiyama looks to continue reign of terror
