Earlier this week we reported that Tugstsogt Nyambayar (7-0, 7) [Нямбаярын Төгсцогт] would be back in action later in the year in a bout against the talented Dominican Yenifel Vicente (30-3-2-1, 22). It seems however that that bout may now be in doubt, though for fans of the Mongolian there is certainly a touch of "silver lining" to the potential dark cloud.
That silver lining is that Nyambayar has taken a short notice offer to fight this coming weekend, in a bout against Filipino foe Jhon Gemino (15-7-1, 7), who is coming in to this bout on the back of bit wins over Toto Helebe in South Africa and Toka Kahn Clary in the US, with the bout set to take place on the under-card of the WBC Heavyweight title bout between Deontay Widler and Gerald Washington.
According to sources in Mongolia the bout will be aired to an international audience, with Fox in the US and Sky in the UK both mentioned as channels showing the bout.
The news doesn't automatically mean that Nyambayar Vs Vicente is off, but it's certainly looking unlikely with the Mongolian now fighting this coming Saturday. Although the bout looks like a mismatch on paper Gemino's recent wins show that he is a banana skin and he really could give the Mongolian hopeful some issues here, if Nyamabayar over-looks him.
