Next week fight fans in Japan will get the chance to see the ring return of former world title challenger Tomomi Takano (8-2, 5) [高野人母美], as she takes on Thailand's win-less, but brilliantly names, Wondergirl Sithsaithong (0-2). The bout will be Takano's first official bout since her November 2015 loss to Daniela Romina Bermudez in a WBO female Super Flyweight title, though could potentially be her final bout.
The attractive and popular Takano was part of a press conference earlier today with her manager Keiichiro Kanehira and the two of them were rather solemn at times with Mr Kanehira being very blunt and announcing that if Takano loses she should retire from the sport.
It's clear that she shouldn't lose to someone as limited as Wondergirl however it's almost as if Kanehira has offered her a way out of boxing, something that seemed like Takano's dream earlier this year when she announced her retirement before doing a 180. That "retirement" was a controversial one as she announced it to the media without informing Kanehira who was said to have been furious with the fighter, before the two sat down and cleared the air with Takano agreeing to return to the ring.
Although this will be her first "official" bout since that falling out she has been in the ring, fighting in an exhibition earlier this year and looks to have again focused on boxing following a flirtation with acting and her continuation in modelling. It seems likely that if she loses she will concentrate on one of those fields in her posting boxing career, and it looks like Kanehira has essentially given her permission to go with those things after her next loss.
