Over the past few hours we've been informed that Japanese boxer-model Tomomi Takano (7-1, 5) will return to the ring on June 10th at the Korakuen Hall as part of the under-card for the IBF Super Bantamweight eliminator between Shingo Wake and Mike Tawatchai.
By it's self that news isn't surprising, especially considering Tomomi's close friend Hisashi Amagasa is also on the card, and it seems where one goes the other isn't far behind. What is surprising however is that report states Tomomi will take part in her first title bout as she is set to fight for an OPBF title against Filipino foe Carleans Rivas (4-2-3).
At the moment the full details of the bout seem to be a bit grey with the report suggesting that the bout will be for the OPBF female Super Bantamweight title, a strange development given neither has ever competed in the weight before. Despite that being strange is more than possible given the lack of depth in some of these divisions and the way that Tomomi has been viewed as a potential cash cow due to her media appeal and eye catching looks.
The source has indicated that if Tomomi wins she'll be hoping to fight for a world title later in the year. That's a huge ask for the once beaten fighter though it has seemingly been the target all along, proving that she's a talented fighter as well as a very attractive young lady.
At the moment we are awaiting an official announcement though it's expected to come over the next few days and this particular source is one that has scarcely been wrong.
