Earlier today the unbeaten WBO Bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda (31-0, 19) returned to the gym to begin training ahead of his much mooted 2015 unification clash with WBA champion Jamie McDonnell (25-2-1, 12).
Kameda, who was last seen in the ring over-coming Alejandro Hernandez, wasn't doing too much hard work at the gym though was beginning to get into the mood to return to action with the McDonnell clash mooted for Spring 2015.
Although Kameda didn't look sensational last time out he'll likely have been very encouraged by this past weekend's bout involving McDonnell who really struggled with under-sized ill-prepared Javier Nicolas Chacon. McDonnell was expect to blow aside Chacon who got the fight on very late notice though struggled immensely until Chacon injured his arm and was eventually forced to retire from the bout. For McDonnell to have any chance against Kameda he will have to put on a much better performance, odds are however that Tomoki is in a class well above that of McDonnell.
Hopefully we'll have a date announced for this bout shortly though we know in boxing things are never quite that simple.
