Earlier today Thai fans had the chance to see an IBF Pan Pacific title double header on television channel Thairath, and the Thairath youtube channel.
One of those fighters was Downua Ruawaiking (6-0, 4) [ดาวเหนือ เรือไวกิ้ง] who claimed the IBF Pan Pacific Super Lightweight title after an opening round victory over Japanese fighter Yuta Maruoka (12-4, 6) [丸岡 裕太]. From the opening moments Maruoka showed little ability to take the power of Downua, who was dropped several before the referee saved him.
For Downua the win sees him recordhis best win to date, and show that he may have much better than his poor competition to date suggested. As for Maruoka the contest showed that his punch resistence is really poor at this level.
The other Thai picking up a title was Sukkasem Kietyongyuth (16-6, 11) [สุขเกษม เรือไวกิ้ง], who scored a 3rd round victory over Indonesian Zun Rindam (14-9-1, 6) to claim the IBF Pan Pacific Bantamweight title. Rindam looked out of his depth from the early moments and although he showed some fighting spirit as the bout went on he was dropped hard hard by two short lefts that left him flat on his back .
For fans interested in these two bouts they can be seen below, along with the rest of the televised portion of the card, and strangely the broadcast also features the full version of the 2016 IBF "interim" Light Flyweight title fight between Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr [ศักดิ์กรีรินทร์] and Filipino Milan Melindo.
