On January 27th we'll see unbeaten Thai Teerachai Kratingdaenggym (38-0, 28) [ถิรชัย กระทิงแดงยิม] battle with Argentinain fighter Lucas Martin Matthysse (38-4-0-1, 35) for the WBA "regular" Welterweight title.
Now, just over a week away from that fight, the odds are clearly in favour of the Argentinian, who is much more well known in the west than the Thai.
The odds makers currently have currently have Matthysse best priced at 3/19, with others having him as low as 1/20. Given how heavy handed he is, and how proven he is there is no doubting that Matthysse should be the favourite, but we can't imagine many backing him at those odds.
Teerachai on the other hand is best priced at at 13/2 to win,an attractive price given what countryman Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (44-4-1, 40) [ศรีสะเกษ นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] did last year, when he twice beat Roman Gonzalez.
The bout is currently priced at 33/1 for the draw.
By fight night we expect the odds to have changed some what, but the early indicators are that Teerachia will remain the clear under-dog.
