Earlier today fans in Ibaragi saw Tatsuya Takahashi (18-5-3, 13) book his place in a Japanese Bantamweight title later this year. The #12 ranked Japanese Bantamweight made light work of Thai visitor Kittichai Or Boonchuay (6-9-1, 1)* who was completely out of his depth from the opening bell and stopped early in the contest.
Following the bout Takahashi announced that a fight had been agreed between himself and current Japanese champion Kentaro Masuda (20-6, 11). The bout is set for December 8th at the Korakuen Hall and will be Takahashi's first domestic title fight after having previously come up short in a contest for the vacant WBC Youth Silver Super Bantamweight title back in 2012. As for Masuda this will be his second defense and will follow his fantastic win over Konosuke Tomiyama back in August.
From what we under-stand the two fighters have sparred in the past and are on friendly terms. Saying that Takahashi did suggest that he was going to take the title from Masuda and bring it back to Ibaragi.
