This coming Sunday fight fans in Kunamoto will get the chance to see under-rated Japanese fighter Tatsuya Fukuhara (18-4-6, 7) [福原 辰弥] battle with WBO #1 ranked contender Moises Calleros (25-6-1, 14) in a bout for the WBO interim Minimumweight tile. The contest, which is sadly lacking in major media attention in Japan, will see the winner become the mandatory for the always fun to watch Katsunari Takayama (31-8-0-1, 12) [高山 勝成],who is said to be eyeing a May return to the ring.
Yesterday both Fukuhara and Calleros took part in their physical for the bout and both passed it with out any issues.
Sadly the lack of attention given to the bout has seen a lack of details about the particulars of the two men, though it does seem like Calleros was the bigger and longer man when the two fighters were stood together. Despite that Fukuhara did seem to suggest that he expected Calleros to be bigger than he was, and that the size difference is less than he was expecting.
At the medical both fighters seemed to be relaxedand both stated that they were expecting the bout to be a good one, something we suspect will be a given considering the styles of the two men involved.
