This coming Sunday fans in Japan will get the chance to see WBO Bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales (29-2, 12) defending his title against Japan's Shohei Omori (18-1, 13) [大森 将平]. The two men will be meeting for the second time, with their first bout ending with a 2nd round TKO win for Tapales, who bounced Omori off the canavas multiple times en route to the win.
Given the one sided nature of their first bout it's not a surprise to find out Tapales is the betting favourite for the bout, and at the time of writing he is a 4/9 favourite to win by any mehtod. Those odds do seem rather tasty, especially given his one-sided destruction of Omori in their 2015 clash, but it's fair to say that there is belief in Omori having improved since then, and having perhaps over-looked their Thai ahead of their first bout.
For those do think Omori is better than he looked in the first contest with Tapales the odds available on the Japanese fighter are 3/1 making him seem like a good value bet given that he knows he has to to avoid taking bombs from Tapales, and has to box smart here.
Tapales looks for a repeat as he takes on Omori!
