That bout in question will see unheralded Japanese prospect Tsuyoshi Tameda (13-1-2, 11) [溜田 剛士] battle former WBA Featherweight champion Simpiwe Vetyeka (28-3, 17) in what looks like a mismatch, though we suspect could be a genuinely brilliant bout.
The bookies have this one pegged as a complete mismatch with Vetyeka a very clear favourite, priced between 1/16 and 1/33 to win the contest. For Tameda, who knows this could be a career defining opportunity, he's regarded as a 10/1 under-dog and is being given next to no hope.
Whilst the South African should be the favourite, given his experience and home advantage, it's fare to say that we don't see him as a 1/33 favourite given that "V12" is now 35 years old and has fought just once in the last 12 months, stopping Rodolfo Puente in 4 rounds last November. At his best Vetyeka would have been 1/33 however Vetyeka is a long way removed form the man who stopped Daud Yordan and Chris John, way back in 2013.
Sadly the only market available for this bout is the "To Win" market, though we dare say that a sneaky bet on Tameda may not be the worst decision we see in boxing this year.
