On Saturday fans in Hyogo will get two world title fights. One of those is, of course, the WBO Minimumweight world title fight between teenager Riku Kano (10-1-1, 5) [加納陸] and veteran Katsunari Takayama (30-8-0-1, 12) [高山 勝成]. The other is a WBO female Light Flyweight title bout between the unbeaten pairing of Kei Takenaka (11-0, 3) [竹中 佳] and Australian Louisa Hawton (6-0, 3).
Today all 4 world title fighters took part in their preliminary medical examinations.
At the medical it looked like the two women were in totally different weight classes. Takenaka towered over Hawton by around 12cm, 1', and boasted a 7cm, 2.5", reach advantage. She really did look much bigger, in comparison, than many had suspect, despite the fact we all knew Hawton was a diminutive pocket rocket.
Despite the size disadvantage the visitor looked confident, smiling through out the medical and promising a good fight against Takenaka, Not only did she promise a bot but it seemed like her physicality impressed Takenaka, who seemed to be shocked that Australian was as physically strong as she was.
The two both promised a good fight and it seems that both were really happy to finally get a world title fight, something they had both been chasing for quite some time.
