Although not confirmed as a definite Uchiyama, who was at a television show recording earlier, suggested that their was a big chance of his next defence coming in November. This would tie in with a possible return to the ring for Takashi Miura who is also expected to return to action in November.
At the moment no names have been solidly linked to Uchiyama though he is said to have been around his fighting weight and having been out of the ring for almost a year he must be itching to get back into the ring, even if it does mean that he's not going to feature on a New Years Eve show, something he has done in a number of recent years.
Unfortunately for Uchiyama he has got limited options for his upcoming bout. The contest will either have to be with a big name, of which there are few of in the division, or will have to come against another champion. It's that in particular that makes Miura a very possible candidate, especially given the fact both men are expected back in the ring in November, both need a dance partner and both have spoken in depth about wanting a rematch.
We'll wait and see as to whether than November match materialises though just the possibility is worth getting a little bit excited about.
