Over the last few weeks it seems that boxing world has been waiting for an announcement regarding a card on November 21st. That card is set to be headlined by a bout between Mexican star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Puerto Rican legend Miguel Cotto. The headline fighters are said to have all but completed their negotiations, merely having formalities to sort out.
It seems that as soon as that bout is sorted pieces will fall into places for a number of under-card bouts. One of those is of particular interest to us as it will likely feature WBC Super Featherweight champion Takashi Miura (29-2-2, 22) defending his title against mandatory challenger Francisco Vargas (22-0-1, 16), of Mexico.
The fight promises to be an amazing bout. The styles of the two men should make for a great action fight and given that both men combine power, aggression, strength and toughness we wouldn't be shocked by the two putting on a FOTY contender.
Sadly it does seem that two men are waiting for Cotto, and his team Roc Nation, as well as Alvarez, and his team at Golden Boy Promotions, to sort out some minor issues including the colour of the canvas and the clauses regarding a rematch. It seems that as soon as those are sorted then the card will be announced and the Miura/Vargas bout will quickly be slid on to the show. Until then it's a matter of waiting as everything slowly inches towards being signed.
