Tomorrow Japanese fans have a genuinely stacked card in Osaka, with 4 titles bouts. One of those titles bouts is for the OPBF Bantamweight title and will see Takahiro Yamamoto (17-4, 14) [山本 隆寛] defending his title against Filipino challenger Rex Wao (11-2, 9) in what, potentially, could be a genuine slug fest.
Today, ahead of their bout, both men took to the scales and both weighed in at 118lbs, the divisional limit.
For Yamamoto this is a 5th successive weigh in where he's been bang on the limit, showing real consistency, whilst Wao has had to lose 8lbs since he most recent bout, a 10 round decision loss in China to Xian Qian Wei.
Both men seemed really confident of winning and both sounded like they knew the bout was going to be exciting. The worry in some quarters however is that the taller and longer looking Yamamoto will simply be too big, too powerful and too strong for the Filipino, who has lost 2 of his last 3 bouts and was recently stopped in one of those losses.
