Earlier today saw the official press conference for the WBC Bantamweight world title fight between Shinsuke Yamanaka (21-0-2, 16) and Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (37-5-1, 16). Although the world title bout is the main event it's not the the only bout of note and the co-feature bout, in many looks, looks just as interesting as the main event.
The co-feature in question will be a very promising 10 rounder between Takahiro Ao (26-3-1, 12) and Juan Carlos Salgado (26-3-1, 16). Ao, a former world champion at Featherweight and Super Featherweight, is looking at this bout as a chance to move towards a third divisional world title whilst Salgado will be hoping to get a win to move towards a Lightweight world title fight of his own.
Whilst the bout is a very interesting one on paper it's also one that has seen both men showing real respect to. Ao commented that Salgado is a tall fighter who uses angles well and it seems clear that he has been studying the Mexican fighter. Salgado suggested that Ao was a good fighter and noted his experienced.
Whilst it's not that rare to see fighters showing respect to each other we have to say that it's nice to see these two showing so much to each for what is a genuinely 50-50 fight and even has the bookies struggling to split them.
