At the beginning of August we reported that Takaaki Kamikawa, a former Japanese amateur standout at Middleweight had passed his license test for a B license. At the time we weren't sure when he'd be debuting or who he would be debuting against. We now have that information.
It was announced earlier today that Kamikawa will be making his professional debut on October 13th at the Korakuen Hall against the big hitting Shoma Fukumoto (4-1, 4). Going into the bout Fukumoto is ranked #5 by the JBC at Middleweight, though of course the Middleweight scene in Japan is thin behind Ryota Murata and Akio Shibata.
The bout will be part of the under-card for Rikki Naito's (10-0, 5) upcoming Japanese Super Featherweight title defence against Shingo Eto (14-2-1, 9).
At the moment full details of the bout are unavailable though we understand the bout will be a 6 rounder and will be a vry interesting test for the 23 year old debutant.
