The bout looked a cracking one on paper and it proved to be an interesting one in the ring.
To begin with Nakatani showed his boxing ability and looked to control the tempo of the bout behind his jab. It was a tactic that saw him have plenty of success early but in round 3 Sumiyoshi began to get closer, upping his pressure and begin to have more frequent moments. That success of Sumiyoshi grew again in round 4 when the two traded blows in a thrilling moment for the fans. Although Nakatani landed the better shots from the exchange it seemed to show that Sumiyoshi had the chin take the best his foe could throw.
In round Sumiyoshi finally landed a bomb, a thunderbolt of a left hook right on to the chin of Nakatani. Nakatani ended up face planting the canvas in a dramatic knockdown, but remarkably recovered to his feet looking to fight on. Sadly for the youngster it wasn't to be as Sumiyoshi raced in and unloaded forcing the referee's hand, as he saved Nakatani.
