Former Japanese Flyweight champion Suguru Muranaka (22-2-1, 7) has found himself in hot water once again today following a second successive bout where he has failed to make weight, this time it has lead to the bout being cancelled.
Muranaka, who was stripped of the Japanese titles when he failed to make weight for a Japanese title fight against Tetsuma Hayashi back in April, came in around 1lb over the contracted limit for his bout with Hideyuki Watanabe (8-7-3, 6).
Originally Muranaka was 600g's over the limit. He was then given 2 hours to lose the weight but could only shed 100g leaving him well over weight for the bout which was subsequently cancelled.
We're now expecting the JBC to give Muranaka a serious punishment for his back-to-back issues with weight and there is potentially a long ban or a large fine being sent his way.
