Back on September 9th we had the brilliantly stacked "Superfly" card, featuring a trio of notable bouts at 115lbs. One of those was the US debut of WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (14-0, 12) [井上 尚弥], who toyed with Antonio Nieves (17-2-2, 9), another saw Juan Francisco Estrada (36-2, 25) become the WBC mandatory, as he out pointed former champion Carlos Cuadras (36-2-1, 27), whilst the main event saw Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (43-4-1, 39) [ศรีสะเกษ นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] blast out Roman Gonzalez (46-2, 38), to retain the WBC title.
Yesterday saw the announcement that there will be "Superfly 2" and that will take place on February 24th in LA.
Sadly the card isn't likely to include Inoue, but the winners of the other two bouts have been confirmed for the card by Zanfer Promotions, and better yet we will see them face off in a really enticing match up, and one of the best mandatory match ups in a very long time.
For Srisaket the bout will serve as his second defense of his second reign, and will see him enter the bout after back-to-back wins over Roman Gonzalez, and a 16 fight winning run, featuring an impressive 14 stoppages. On the other hand Estrada will be fighting in his first Super Flyweight world title bout, though he was a former unified Flyweight champion, and looked really good in his win against Cuadras.
At the moment the bout is the only one announced for the card, though others are expected to be confirmed in the near future, and wil include other top Super Flyweights, probably including Gonzalez who will be hoping to stay in the title mix in 2018.
