Earlier this week we reported that Shun Kubo (12-0, 9) [久保隼] would be defending his WBA Super Bantamweight title mandatory challenger Daniel Roman (22-2-1, 8) on September 3rd at the Shimadzu Arena in Kyoto.
Today, just days after that announcement, Kubo attended aspecial event to celebrate becoming a world champion, which he did earlier this year when he upset Nehomar Cermeno.
The talented Kubo spoke at the event, thanking those behind it for holding the event and then going as far as to talk about his up coming training, which certainly seems promising and exciting with the champion talking about taking advice from other at the gym, and those who have previous fought for the gym. It seems that that training isn't just to satisify himself but to also help him really develop as a fighter.
The focus clearly seems to be on beating Roman, but the bout is certainly no foregone conclusion, and on paper this could be the best test Kubo has had so far in his career, despite the fact he's currently a workd champion. Roman is hungry, young and determined and cannot be over-looked, despite being the challenger here.
