The talented Kubo was under some early pressure to begin with, as Lim tried to get in his face, but it didn't take long for Kubo to establish his control of the bout, with his straight left being a particularly notable weapon in staving off the offensive of the Korean, and almost instantly reddening the right eye of Lim.
As the bout went on Kubo began to build on his success and quickly started to break down Lim, who was dropped in roudn 4 and generally beaten at will by Kubo who eventually forced got the stoppage with seconds left in round 5.
For Kubo the defense was his second, and marked a much better performance than May's struggle over Benjie Suganob, though he is still some way from being ready for a world title fight and would benefit by defending his belt against some top domestic talent. For Lim it was unsurprisingly adefeat that many saw coming and showed that he simply wasn't ready for this level of bout, and likely never will be.
