Yesterday fans in Tokyo got the chance to see a really notable show, Dangan 147. The show was dubbed "Survival" due to the fact a number of JBC ranked fighters were facing off against each other in bouts that could cost them a potential Japanese title shot.
One man who is now further away from than he was is Kazuki Matsuyama (12-6, 6) who found himself bowled in quick fashion against the heavy handed Shuhei Tsuchiya (19-4, 16).
Things started relatively well for Matsuyama who seemed cautious to begin with. That caution didn't help however as Tsuchiya, who won the Rookie of the Year back in 2010, showed off the power that had seen him start his professional career 12-0 (12) and landed a perfectly timed 1-2 that sent Matsuyama down hard and forced the referee to halt the bout.
This win is a third successive one for Tsuchiya who is now 5-4 in his last 9 and appears to rebuilding his confidence and moving past the sticky patch in his career, which saw him losing 4 of 6. For Matsuyama this was his second stoppage loss and sees a 6 fight winning run come to an end.
