Whilst the main event was the only title bout on the card it was far from being the only good fight on offer with a supporting bout between Shinya Iwabuchi (26-5, 22) and former OPBF Light Welterweight Romeo Jakosalem (16-11-1, 8) also putting the fans on the edge of their seat.
The start was a poor one for the heavy handed Iwabuchi was was dropped inside the opening round by a solid counter right from Jakosalem who seemed to sense an upset and his biggest win since a 2011 win over Pan Soo Kim.
Sadly for the Filipino visitor the knockdown was his sole moment of success and Iwabuchi recovered well, regaining his bearings. By the end of round 2 it seemed that the Japanese fighter had began to figure out the visitor and an assault in round 3 sent Jakosalem down. A follow up attack from the heavy handed former Japanese champion then forced the referee to stop the action and save the Filipino from further punishment.
