Last Friday fight fans in Japan saw WBC Bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (26-0-2, 18) [山中慎介] record the 11th defense of his world title. In the wake of that a special stamp collection has been released with just 1000 copies of the stamps being made available in Japan, at a price of ¥1,300.

A stamp collection for a sports person in Japan is rare, though they have started to become common on instant, messenger LINE, however this is the second set Yamanaka has had made after having also had a set made available last year. It seems clear that with, two sets to his name, Yamanaka is a huge star in his homeland.
Sadly for those outside of Shiga these will be next to impossible to get a hold of, however with Yamanaka's legacy growing by the year there is, albeit a slim chance, that a national collection may be made available in the future with Yamanaka within touching distance of a Japanese record.
