IBF #1 ranked Super Bantamweight Shingo Wake (19-4-2, 11) has announced that he will be heading to the US tomorrow as he begins preparations for his future world title fight.
The slippery southpaw has stated that he will be ringside on Saturday to watch this watch this weekend's IBF Super Bantamweight title fight between reigning champion Carl Frampton (20-0, 14) and relatively unknown challenger Alejandro Gonzalez Jr (25-1-2, 15). The idea of being ringside for that bout is to scout the winner, who will be his future foe.
As well as the scouting mission Wake will also be taking part in a training camp whilst over in the US. Part of that camp will see him spending time at the Wild Card gym, run by Freddie Roach.
Wake's stay in the US will last to the end of the month before he returns to Japan to concentrate on the winner of Saturday's fight.
