Earlier today saw a special press conference being held in Japan to officially announce the Japanese Women's title, which will see it's first champions being crowned in October.
The title is being seen as a clear stepping stone for Japanese female fighters, who are perhaps not quite ready to move on to the OPBF title scene, but are heading that way.
The press conference saw a number of notable Japanese female fighters along with former world champion Shinji Takehara, who officially revealed the look of the new title.
To begin 5 divisions will be covered by the titles, Atomweight, Minimumweight, Flyweight, Bamtamweight and Featherweight. In the future however there are plans to extend this to more divisions, with hope being that the female scene will snowball.
