Last week we reported that Japan's Momoko Kanda (9-7-2, 3) would be in action on the November 11th Kyoei card at the Korakuen Hall. We didn't know who Kanda would be facing but we knew she would have a role on the card, which is to be headlined by a female WBO Super Flyweight title fight between Tomomi Takano (8-1, 5) and current world champion champion Daniela Romina Bermudez (17-3-2, 5).
Today Kanda's involvement on the show was announced with the fighter taking part in a co-feature bout as she challenges WBO female Minimumweight champion Kumiko Seeser Ikehara (7-1-2, 3).
The bout will be Kanda's first world title bout though she has won minor titles in the past, including the OPBF female Atomweight title and the a couple of regional WBC belts. Saying that shae has also mixed with world class fighters, like Ayaka Miyao and Joselyn Arroyo Ruiz, though did come up short against her opponents at that level.
As for Ikehara the defending champion will be looking for her third successive defense. She won the title last September and saw her first defense lasting just a round, as a headclash caused a very early conclusion to her bout with Jessebelle Pagaduan. Her second defense came in May, when she took a razor thin technical split decision win against Kayoko Ebata.
The announcement of this bout, made earlier today, now leaves the card as female world title double header with more bouts expected to be announced in the coming weeks, including the likely return of Hisashi Amagasa (29-5-2, 19), who has been heavily rumoured to be involved on the card in some capacity.
