Tomorrow fight fans in Tokoy will be able to see Japanese Featherweight champion Kosuke Saka (16-3, 13) [坂晃典] make his first defense of the title, as he battles against first time title challenger Takenori Ohashi (14-4-2, 9) [大橋健典]. Today, ahead of their bout, the two men took part in their weigh in, and both men made weigh on their first attempt.
On the scales Saka was bang on the limit of 126lbs, and looked in great condition for the bout. Not only is he in good shape but also in great form, having won his last 8 by stoppage and blitzing through the likes of Ryuto Kyoguchi, Burning Ishii, Takafumi Nakajima and Shota Hayashi in the last 3 years or so. He's a confident man and will almost certainly be looking to blow away Ohashi and end 2017 with the title around his waist.
Ohashi was also bang on the limit of 126lbs. He seemed like a fighter who has prepared hard for this bout, but is fully aware that it's a step up in class and that everything is a little bit different at title level. Although challenging for the first time the 28 year old is an 8 year professional and with wins in his last 3 will be confident of scoring his best win to date.
