A story that has reached us from Japan is that unbeaten Japanese Middleweight Ryota Murata (4-0, 4) will be sparring with current WBA world champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26) in the coming days.
From what we have been told Murata will be flying over to the US later today to help Golovkin prepare for his upcoming world title defence against Australian Daniel Geale (30-2, 16). Stylistically it seems unlikely to help Golovkin really prepare for the style of the Aussie but on the other hand it does give Golovkin some one who is tough to be in the ring with.
For the Japanese fighter this sparring will give him a chance to prove himself again arguably the best in the division. If nothing else this alone is likely to help him improve and help him develop his skills as well as getting used to being in he ring with an equally strong fighter though one who looks more rounded in terms of skills.
Whilst we're unsure on how much sparring the two will be doing we've got to admit that we imagine the sessions will be great and hopefooly footage will be released, as it has from some of Golovkin's other sessions.
