American promoter Bob Arum recently confirmed that he will be promoting a major card in the US on July 23rd, with the card set to be headlined by a Light Welterweight unification bout between the unbeaten pairing of Terence Crawford (28-0, 20) and Viktor Postol (28-0, 12), who will be fighting to unify the WBO and WBC world titles.
Whilst the main event was confirmed there was also a lot of talk about the under-card for the bout, with Bob Arum mentioning that Ryota Murata (9-0, 6) [村田 諒太] may be one of those fighters featured on the under-card.
To get the fight on the card Murata will need to win his upcoming bout, a contest against Felipe Santos Pedroso (13-1, 11) on May 14th on Hong Kong. Not only will he need to win that bout but he will need to do so without being cut or swollen, given that there is only about 10 weeks between the May fight and the July date.
As for an opponent there was nothing made public from Arum but rumours have swirled that Murata may be facing Russian fighter Matt Korobov (25-1, 14).
