Yesterday evening we reported that a deal had been reached for the rematch between Ryota Murata (12-1, 9) [村田 諒太] and WBA Middleweight champion Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (36-2, 21), following their hugely controversial bout earlier in the year, which N'Dam won by a widely criticised decision.
This morning saw that bout being officially announced in Tokyo, with the two fighters take part in the announcement and confirming the details from our previous report.
The bout, as mentioned, will take place on October 22nd at the Ryogoku Kokugikan, in Tokyo and will be on Fuji TV.
At the press conference both fighters show alevel of respect to the other man, but both seemed very confident of winning the rematch.
Murata and his team seemed to feel he has improved since the first bout, back in May, and that he is a stronger, faster and more powerful fighter, whilst N'Dam seemed to state that the first bout helped raise his profile and that he would win again to further prove himself.
Although the bout was announced, there was no details on the under-card. However Fuji TV do have a strong stable and will probably look to show case some of that in the supporting bouts, as they did on the under-card of the first bout between the two men, where the bout acted as the main event of the first of two stacked days of action.
